I’ve been running an online clothing store for about six years. Originally, I had a physical store, but during the COVID period, I shifted to online sales and now use the shop mainly as a workspace.
I entered the fashion industry at 19 by working part-time at Diesel and spent around eight years as a full-time employee. While I was thinking about what to do after leaving my job and returning to my hometown, I realized that there were hardly any kids' clothes available in the countryside. Since I originally wanted to run a clothing store myself, I decided to start my own store focused on children's apparel!
The shop primarily features character-themed products and has a retro vibe. So I select clothing for those who love character merchandise and vibrant, flashy styles.
I started my online store when Korean children's clothing designs were trending. As basic and simple styles became more common, I wanted to offer something unique, so I selected and sold clothes with pop designs, which received a positive response. I’ve been operating under this concept for the past 2-3 years.
Although Korean products are more expensive, I believe they offer exceptional quality and the most attractive designs.
I began sourcing directly from Dongdaemun Market in Korea about six years ago. Until three years ago, I would visit in person, but due to COVID, I could no longer travel, which prompted me to look for alternatives.
I especially liked NUZZON among the Dongdaemun buildings, and I found that Sinsang Market allows me to check products by Dongdaemun building. When I first discovered NUZZON, I was really excited! Thanks to Sinsang Market, I was able to continue sourcing products steadily even during the pandemic.
I check the products daily and tend to place multiple orders, especially before holidays. I also carefully read the official User Guide on Sinsang Market, which is well-organized and contains important information.
Additionally, product detail pages show the last update time from the wholesale brands. Initially, I frequently faced out-of-stock items, but by selecting products based on recent updates, my sourcing rate improved.
When I first ordered from Sinsang Market, I was very satisfied because it had a lot of the print designs I was looking for. The quality is also great, so I continue to use Sinsang Market.
At first, there might be some resistance to sourcing products from abroad, but I think trying it out shows that the experience isn't as foreign as one might expect. You don’t have to wait months for shipping like with sea freight, and the dispatch is quick after the items are picked-up from the wholesale brands, which is always a great help.
I recommend not to think of it as “purchasing Korean” or “from abroad” but to give it a try lightly. It’s a service that can be very beneficial.
